Young children are active learners who need meaningful play opportunities to gain understanding of their world. Many current research studies indicate that young children are spending less time in play and suffering the negative consequences - “play deficit."  Let’s investigate how play experiences provide important opportunities for social-emotional expression, making difficult decisions, interacting effectively in conversations and learning how to collaborate with others. Investigate how playing with ideas, materials, and others will nurture creative thinkers, competent leaners, and problem solvers. Explore play environments that will provide intriguing possibilities that support and challenge young children’s growing capacities in a critical stage of development.
